Gone are the days of throwing some cat litter in a pack and running up and down The Franklin park terraces.
Now my training weight has needs and comes with added gear and responsibility. She determines the pace and duration of said 'training' session and if she wants to sit on a rock and play with the grass then consider it a break because that's what we're doing!
And don't bother investing much thought in organizing a symmetrically balanced pack load because the second she passes out her 10lb noggin is going to choose a side at random and ensure that the load is lopsided for the duration of the nap!
Trip planning checklist for week in the desert:
1. Clothes for any possible weather (70* to hail): ✅
2. Snacks to keep kiddos happy for miles of hikes: ✅
3. Partner in crime @humbucks happy to carry said kiddos on back for miles of hikes: ✅
We are so excited to announce that Wild Outsiders Club has a new partner- @ospreypacks!
Osprey graciously sent us some Poco AG carriers, along with other awesome bags and we will be sharing them with you all!
We are pretty stoked on Osprey for so many reasons.
First, Osprey Packs has a lifetime warranty. They stand by their gear and that means a lot when you’re buying gear that you want to last for years to come.
Secondly, the Poco packs are our personal favorite kid carriers. They are durable, compact, lightweight, safe, and they hold up to almost 50lbs, so older toddlers can take a ride when they’re pooped. 😉
These packs will be available through our Community Gear Closet to those that want to try them out at our hikes, so keep on the look out for posts about that. Thanks, @ospreypacks! #ospreypacks Photos by @lisel73517! #wildoutsidersclub#woc#wearewoc#ospreypoco#woccommunitygearcloset
OSPREY ATMOS 65AG
The ground-breaking new Atmos AG is equipped with our unique suspended AG AntiGravity™ backsystem which incorporates the world's first fully ventilated hipbelt. Whether you're exploring hot climates or trekking through tundra, the seamless mesh and 3D cavity backpanel equals unrivalled ventilation and comfort whilst providing excellent load carrying performance. Fill the Atmos AG to the max and it'll feel practically weightless on your back.
Thanks to the ExoForm™ Biostretch™ harness, load lifter bar and the Fit-on-the-Fly™ hipbelt. InsideOut™ compression provides impressive load support, reducing fatigue so you can push your adventures harder and longer.
Need easy access to your gear? The twin zippered front pockets, base zip and top-lid entry points mean that no matter what you're faced with, you can easily grab your kit. Our Osprey Stow-on-the-Go™ trekking pole attachment allows you to either stow or access your poles without removing your pack.
A large sleeping bag base compartment with internal divider allows you to store your gear separately when required.
When the weather turns for the worst deploy the integrated & detachable raincover contained within the lid.
If you're looking to cut weight to the last gram then the FlapJacket™ means you can remove the lid and still keep your gear protected from the elements. All of these reasons and many more explain why the Atmos AG has won an Innovation Gold award.
I love that my kids are good travelers and seem to enjoy it for the most part. We have completed 6 successful cross country trips in the last 9 months!! (Just mom and her boys) For their birthdays I want to take them someplace new every year. We spent Jacks first birthday in The Faroe Islands and, unfortunately, will not be able to top that for awhile. Finn turns one in May and Jack turns three in August. Any west coast birthday trip ideas?
