Try not to compare your backend to someone’s front end. 🤣
I heard this at #wppi2018 in Las Vegas (photography conference). I obviously had my mind in the gutter and thought it was funny. I giggled. No one else did. Then I tried to hide my red face. 🤭😜
Anyway. But it makes sense. Comparison is the pits! And you would be SO surprised by how much effort it takes to take a photo like this. It’s not an iPhone image. It’s a backlit image using a DSLR with a yummy lens. This was taken midday giving me a great backlight, BUT I’m front lit as well because the building in front of me is reflecting back up into my face. The most important part about this image is that the lens in shaded by the teeny little shade of the light post. Shooting backlit images is easy when your lens is fully shaded.
So... this photo wasn’t as easy to take. But I LOVE IT! 💗
PS: Main Street is completely blocked off but we were still able to work with what we had. 😉

My favorite thing about photographs is how they bring us right back to this moment and we can feel it all over again. Simply sitting on the floor reading to your little girl while she listens intently. One day your kids will look back on these photos too, make sure you are in them.
I’ve been MIA here on IG, but only because I’ve been away on #Molokai for a destination wedding. And this one was kept close to our family — it was for my own mother-in-law! 🏝🌴🍾🎊
Double tap if you need a Re-energize and escape away to somewhere amazing!
Where would you go? Where’s your happy place?

If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we’ll sing again a hundred billion times
